Baaghi A Rebel for love

Baaghi: A Rebel for Love is a Bollywood film starring Salman Khan, Nagma, and Shakti Kapoor, which was released in 11 December 1990. It was Nagma's first role in Bollywood, as the opening credits note; she was 15 years old when the film was released. In an ironic twist, the DVD cover has a warning noting that the movie is "suitable only for persons of 15 years and older," presumably because the plot revolves around prostitution. Note, the subtitle "A Rebel for Love" does not appear on the DVD box, nor in the Hindi titles or license at the start of the movie. According to BoxOfficeIndia.Com, Baaghi is reported to have been Bollywood's seventh highest grossing film in 1990, despite its release in mid-December.
The movie opens with a dedication, which reads: "In this year of the girl child, we dedicate our film to those women, who have been victimised by lust and greed and are subjected to social rejection and also laud those who strived to uplift them."

The story, based on an idea from Salman Khan, centres on Saajan, the son of a colonel in the Indian army, and Kaajal, a modest girl from "a respectable family." The film opens with Saajan travelling in a bus, when he catches a glimpse of Kaajal on another bus, and they are both smitten. They do not formally meet and, since Saajan is off to start at college, he does not think he will ever see her again. But his new friends at college, Buddha, Tempo and Refill, one night insist that they all visit a brothel in a seedier part of Bombay. Saajan only reluctantly agrees, but ultimately refuses to select a prostitute - until he hears a new girl being beaten by her pimp, and decides to protect whoever she is. To his surprise, it is Kaajal again, called Paro at the brothel, who has been kidnapped by a pimp after she was tricked by a job offer in Bombay.

Plot

Kaajal, who has only very recently arrived at the brothel and is still a virgin, has adamantly refused to be a prostitute, hence Jaggu, who runs the brothel, beating her. When finally alone with Saajan as a paying client (although he does not, of course, do anything with her), Kaajal explains to Saajan how she was forced to look for work after her parents' deaths, and how this ultimately led to her travelling to Bombay and being kidnapped by Dhanraj then forced to work in Jaggu's brothel. Thanks to Leelabai, the madame who helps run the brothel for Jaggu, Saajan is able to spend time with Kaajal, and Kaajal is somehow able to keep resisting actually becoming a prostitute. Saajan and Kaajal fall in love, and he tries to find a way to get her out of the brothel before Kaajal gives up hope.
When Saajan is finally able to introduce Kaajal to his parents, they - not surprisingly - reject the idea of his marrying a girl from a brothel, even if she was taken there against her will and is actually from a respectable family. Since Saajan's father, Col. Sood, was already angry with his son for refusing to follow family tradition and join the Indian army, this is the last straw, and Saajan is kicked out of his house. He becomes, in his own words, a rebel - a word which is repeated several times in the movie. Since Kaajal is already rebelling against Jaggu because she believes in love, they are now both "rebels for love." With the help of Saajan's college friends, they help Kaajal escape Jaggu's brothel and flee Bombay to Ooty, near where her grandparents live. But just as they are about to be married with Kaajal's grandparents' consent, if not Saajan's father's, police arrive take them back to Bombay, where they claim he's wanted for kidnapping "Paro".
But Saajan's father, upon hearing of his son's heroics in fighting Dhanraj's men to rescue Kaajal, suddenly has a new-found respect for his son, who had previously been a lazy drifter. With the help of Saajan's three friends, Col. Sood finds his son outside Jaggu's brothel, where the "police" (who are actually working for Dhanraj) have returned Saajan and Kaajal to Dhanraj, who is preparing to punish them both for her leaving the brothel. The intervention of Leelabai on Kaajal's behalf leads to yet another fight, with several people switching alliances.

Music

The soundtrack has 6 songs composed by Anand-Milind and authored by Sameer. The music was hugely popular when it released and enjoys the honour of being played on radio stations even today. The most popular song of this film is Chandini Raat Hain, rendered by Kavita Krishnamurthy and Abhijeet Bhatacharya, who was re-launched by Anand-Milind with this film. Abhijeet and Anand-Milind went on to record several songs together since.
However, a minor controversy arose when singer Amit Kumar was mistakenly nominated for Chandini Raat Hain at the Filmfare awards ceremony. Anand-Milind were nomintaed at the Filmfare awards for Best Music but lost out to Nadeem-Shravan for Aashiqui.

Music runs in her blood, says Willow Smith

She is the youngest face to have hit the music scene in the United States of late and Willow Smith is soon turning out to be the child sensation of the country. The daughter of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith was heard saying in a recent statement that she attributes her success to her parents and admits that daddy and mommy have been the biggest influences in her life, when it comes to music.

With popular parents to boast of, music runs in her blood. But little did anyone think that Willow Smith could become the most talked about singerat the age of 10! Though the girl had set foot in the entertainment industry as an actress and also won the 'Young Artist Award' back in 2007, her decision to launch her single ‘Whip My Hair’ in the fall of 2010 has paid off and how. Not only are people talking about her superb voice, but also her sense of fashion.

Speaking to the media, Willow Smith says that it was her mommy JadaPinkett Smith who first got her acquainted with Billy Idol and therefore it is the master singer, who has always been her inspiration. Among the contemporary singers, Lady GaGa seems to be the favorite of young Willow.

At 10, Willow Smith is a superstar and she has also signed with Jay Z for her upcoming album.

Anderson, 43, entered the Bigg Boss 4 house in Lonavala Tuesday night. The episode will be telecast Wednesday, and her entry is expected to give a major boost to the show's ratings, even though Malik's antics have been inviting a lot of attention already.

Although they have been friends for years, Karan and Kishan have grown apart and have little in common. The widower Karan is a poor engineer who lives in a humble house in the country. Kishan is a rich man with a vast business empire with little time for old friends. However, when Karan prepares to work abroad and earn more money, he turns to Kishan to solve a problem. Will Kishan let Karan's daughter Suman (Bhagyashree) stay at his house? Kishan cannot turn down his old friend's request and Suman comes to live with Kishan's family.

At first country girl Suman is ill at ease in the huge mansion. She is befriended by Kishan's son Prem (Salman Khan), who assures her that he has no romantic interest in her and that a boy and a girl can be platonic friends. The pair share outings and confidences and all seems to be going well.

Then Prem takes Suman to a party put on by some of his rich friends. They humiliate Suman and accuse her of scheming to marry Prem. Suman leaves in tears and distances herself from Prem. At that point, Prem suddenly realizes that he has fallen in love with her. With aid of his mother (who likes the unassuming Suman) and his comic friend Manohar, Prem sets out to win Suman's heart.

He succeeds, but their romance is balked by Prem's father Kishan, who does not want his son to marry a poor nobody. He prepares to send Suman home in disgrace. At this unpropitious moment, Karan returns from overseas. Kishan accuses him of plotting to match Prem and Suman. Karan and Kishan quarrel; Karan and Suman then return to their village humiliated.

Prem refuses to accept the separation. He defies his father and is disinherited. He goes to Suman's village and begs to be allowed to marry her. Karan, angered by Kishan's accusations, says that he will allow the marriage on one condition: Prem must prove that he can support a wife by his own efforts.

Karan, meanwhile, takes back Suman home and the daughter sulks till Prem acts as a rescuer. But since Prem is now disinherited, Karan puts forward the condition that Prem should earn two thousand rupees within a month to prove that he can take care of Suman. Prem then works as a truck driver and laborer. At the end of the month, while Prem is ready with the required money and comes to win the heart of his lady's father, This melts Karan's heart, and he agrees to letting Suman marry Prem. By the end of the movie, the estrangement between Karan and Kishan ends too.

Harry Potter is not the end of my career: Emma Watson

Actress Emma Watson does not understand why people are treating the end of the Harry Potter series as a bad omen as she is eagerly waiting for new opportunities.

The 20-year-old actress, who starred as wizard kid Hermione Granger in the franchise for more than ten years said that she was sad but at the same time felt a huge sense of relief as she can't wait to see what future holds for her, Contactmusic reported.

"People keep saying to me, 'So this is the end, how do you feel about it being the end?' And I'm like, 'It really doesn't feel that to me.' It feels like the beginning. It's actually really an exciting time for me rather than this kind of the end.

"I can't stand everyone calling it the end. I'm 20 years old. Seriously. It feels like I've been handed my life back, like I've been let off a leash," said Watson.

While the British beauty is looking forward to a future without Harry Potter, she is clueless about the career path after she completes her education".

"People are constantly like, 'What are you going to do?' 'What is your career plan?' 'What direction do you want it to take?' 'What roles do you have lined up?' And I'm just like, 'Sorry, I haven't got everything mapped out, I'm only 20.' And they look at me as if I'd have this perfectly calculated life plan and how I want my career to look. And I really don't know yet. I'm still open to possibilities," she added.

Salman's Ready has two composers

In all his excitement, T-Series head honcho Bhushan Kumar forgot that the movie he's producing (Ready) already had a music director (Pritam).

Kumar, who also owns the music rights of Farah Khan's Tees Maar Khan, asked her husband Shirish Kunder to compose a track for the Salman Khan starrer.

Says a source from T-Series, "Farah's hubby has composed the theme song of TMK and Bhushan has been getting mind-blowing reactions from distributors and his friends. He too loved it. He asked Shirish recently at an event to compose a similar theme song for Ready."

The problem is, Pritam has already composed the music of Ready. "The composer will be very upset if Bhushan takes on another music director and hogs the credit. The composer will throw tantrum and refuse to compose any more songs so everything is very hush-hush now," notes the source.

Why Farah Khan chose Akshay Kumar over Shahrukh Khan?

With Tees Maar Khan, what once seemed impossible has happened. farah khan ditched her favourite star Shahrukh Khan and chose Akshay Kumar to play the lovable conman. What prompted her decision? Read on...

There was a time when Farah Khan said that she can’t imagine working without Shahrukh Khan, with whom she directed two films Main Hoon Na and Om Shanti Om. Then what was the reason she shifted her loyalty?

“I did say things in that regard and in all honesty, I meant them genuinely as well. However, things changed, circumstances changed and a lot of other things happened that made me go for Akshay,” Farah is quoted as telling a news agency.

Rumour has it that Farah had a fall out with SRK due to reasons that have not come to light yet. While Farah hasn’t given legitimacy to the rumours, she is, however, not comfortable talking about SRK.

“Even now, people ask me whether I would be working with Shahrukh again. However, I have learnt to keep my mouth shut. 'Never say never' is the right adage to be used. You never know how circumstances may change tomorrow,” the otherwise straightforward Farah gives a diplomatic reply.

Meanwhile, Farah says her experience of working with Akshay has been superb and she’s promising a cinematic treat to the movie buffs when Tees Maar Khan releases during Christmas weekend this year.

Salman gives ‘Dus Ka Dum’ makers hell, quotes Rs 2.5 cr per episode

Mumbai: Salman Khan might have given his nod to hosting money-churning show ‘Dus Ka Dum’, but he is making the channel pay heavily for his return. And we mean that literally. The superstar has reportedly quoted a whopping sum of Rs 2.5 crore per episode.

And he has also staunchly added that he will return to hosting the show if only he is paid the set amount. This fee is approximately a 51 per cent hike of what he was paid for the first and second season of the show.
Confirming the news a source told a daily, “Salman was being paid approximately Rs 1.65 crore per episode then.”

However, reports had stated that Salman had charged only Rs 89 crore for the 104 episodes that were telecast in the first season of Dus Ka Dum. But the source denies those figures now and states, “No. That was a conservative figure portrayed in the media.”

But this time round the actor has broken all records of fees charged by film-stars for hosting TV shows. The actor has left behind veterans like Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan in quoting a hefty amount to act host for a show.

What’s interesting is that the actor is asking much more than what is presently bagging for ‘Bigg Boss 4’.

As per sources, Salman is being paid about Rs 2 crore per episode for Bigg Boss 4. And that’s a package deal, which involves public appearances and a lot of other things.

We wonder if it’s the ugly episode with ‘Dus Ka Dum’ makers that has triggered Sallu to act this way.

Cold War Between Salman Khan, Govinda Comes To An End

The persistent cold war between the two Bollywood stars Salman Khan and Govinda has reportedly reached the final stages and is expected to come to a close shortly and the entire credit goes to the Bollywood director David Dhawan who made many a movie with the twosome. David is all set to make the sequel to the film Partner in which Govinda and Salman Khan played the lead. The project, tentatively titled, Partner 2 could never hit the floors unless the fissure between the duo is healed. Thus the intervention of David Dhawan was necessary in the course at least for the period of completion of the pet project.

When asked about this, David Dhawan stated that he was highly bothered about the apparent bad terms between Salman Khan and Govinda. David added saying that both of them are his bosom friends without whom he couldn't have made many hit films.
